About the Author:
Nadya Gabriele Swedan, MD, is
a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation. She was the first to present on the female
athlete at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation annual assembly in 1998 and has been a long-time
advocate for and active practitioner of womenís sports
medicine through speaking engagements, publications, and
private practice. With a past sports history including varsity
high school swimming and tennis, collegiate national rowing,
and part time aerobics instruction during medical school,
current athletic involvement includes triathlons with training
in running, swimming and biking, and recreational activities
including tennis, golf, and skiing.
